Kidney profile

Our Kidney Panel is meticulously designed to provide a thorough assessment of your kidney health. This panel includes a range of essential markers to evaluate how well your kidneys are performing their critical functions, such as filtering waste from your blood and maintaining electrolyte balance. Understanding these markers can help in early detection and management of kidney-related issues.

Markers included:

  • Sodium: Essential for maintaining fluid balance, sodium levels can indicate hydration status and kidney function.
  • Potassium: Vital for nerve and muscle function, abnormal potassium levels can signal kidney dysfunction.
  • Chloride: Works with sodium to help control the body’s fluid balance; changes may indicate kidney problems.
  • Urea: A waste product formed from protein breakdown; elevated levels can suggest impaired kidney function.
  • Creatinine: A waste product from muscle activity; higher levels may indicate reduced kidney function.

Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate (eGFR): A critical measure derived from the creatinine level, age, body size, and gender, providing an estimate of how well your kidneys are filtering.

Creatinine in urine: Evaluates creatinine clearance and kidney filtering ability over a 24-hour period.

Albumin Creatinine Ratio (ACR): Assesses the amount of albumin in the urine. An important marker for kidney damage, as healthy kidneys typically don’t filter albumin into the urine.

Microalbumin from urine: Detects very small levels of albumin leakage into the urine, an early sign of kidney damage.

This panel is ideal for individuals seeking a comprehensive evaluation of their kidney health, especially those with risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, or a family history of kidney disease. Early detection through these markers can be crucial in preventing the progression of kidney damage and maintaining optimal health.

*A first-morning urine sample is recommended for measuring the urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR); alternatively, a 24-hour urine collection.
