Anaemia Profile II
The Full Blood Count (FBC) counts the number and relative proportion of each of the different types of cells in your blood. It is a routine test that provides information about the size, shape and relative maturity of the blood cells present in your blood at that moment.
This test includes a Full Blood Count (FBC) plus differential blood test which can detect immature or abnormal cells and can assist in the diagnosis of leukaemia or an inflammation, infection or immune system disorder.
The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR or sed rate) helps detect inflammation arising from conditions such as cancers, infections and autoimmune diseases.
The folate test, also known as folic acid and vitamin B9, helps to diagnose the cause of certain anaemias such as megaloblastic or pernicious anaemia.
B12 and folate tests help evaluate general health and nutritional status due to malnutrition or malabsorption conditions such as cystic fibrosis, coeliac disease or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
