Full Blood Count (FBC) + Differential
A full blood count (FBC) is a common haematology test used for diagnosis of haematologic disorders, eg. anemia, polycythaemia vera, leukaemia, thrombocytopenia, thrombocytophilia.
Parameters: RBC (red blood cells, erythrocytes), WBC (white blood cells, leukocytes), PLT (platelets, thrombocytes), HB (haemoglobin), MCV (mean corpuscular volume), MCH (mean corpuscular haemoglobin), MCHC (mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration), RDW (red cell distribution width), neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, basophils.
Differential blood count gives relative percentage of each type of white blood cell and also helps reveal abnormal white blood cell populations (eg, blasts, immature granulocytes, or circulating lymphoma cells in the peripheral blood).
